The Future of Outdoor Advertising Through Face Recognition Personalization
Imagine you are standing at a bus stop and your eyes drift to the advertisement on your side. Cameras pick up your line of sight as well as your physical features and begin to show you a customized ad, based off your gender or outfit. On Oxford Street in London’s West End, these interactive outdoor advertisements are reality.
Plan UK, a non-profit organization that helps children in third world countries, has set up a new $30,000 display that will identify woman, with a 90% accuracy rate and display an ad for the education of girls in third-world countries. While the idea behind the ad may be something to debate, the technological implications are something that should be looked into. Now, advertisers will be able to tailor specific messages to a targeted audience. Companies could tag competitor logo to showcase ads of their own. Perhaps it notices an accessory you are wearing and shows you a product that matches. The possibilities are endless!
